Larry
was born and raised in St. Joseph, Mo. He attended Missouri Western
College majoring in Education. After two years of college he joined
the Navy and served for four years. During that time he met and
married his wife of 40 years, Joanne, and they have one daughter.
After discharge from the Navy, he attended Washington
University in St. Louis where he changed his major to Accounting.
He worked full time for Monsanto Company and attended classes at
night. He earned his B.S. degree in Business with a major in
accounting
and
continued working as an accountant for 35 years.
In
2000 he left the corporate world behind and moved to Comfort, Texas
where he built his woodworking shop and started turning his hobby
into a full time job. As a wood turner and furniture builder,
he is self-taught and has developed his skills by attending
symposiums, seminars, classes, reading and gaining a wealth of
knowledge through his local wood turners club. His turnings
tend toward the art side using gilding, carving, patina techniques,
and segmentation. He often incorporates turnings in his
furniture making. His pieces have been accepted in juried
shows and he’s won awards with several of them. He hopes you
enjoy his work as much as he enjoys creating them.
