Janet
Csanyi began making jewelry about fifteen years ago, when she lived
in Houston, Texas. She began selling her creations when the company
she worked for as a technical writer went out of business suddenly,
on her birthday, and she didn’t get paid for her last three weeks of
work. Within six months she was supporting herself with her jewelry
but ultimately decided she still needed a corporate job. For the
next ten years she continued to work on her jewelry while
continuing her career as a technical writer.
Two years ago Janet got married, left Houston, and moved to Comfort,
Texas., and that is when she began working
with Precious Metal Clay (PMC). She enjoys PMC because it allows her
to explore and develop new aspects of design and artistic
expression.
Hill Country antique shops are a rich source of design ideas, and
Janet sometimes uses molds made from antique crystal, lace, and
buttons in her designs. Another technique Janet uses is to make
photopolymer plate molds from original drawings. As a nature lover,
Janet frequently incorporates elements of nature into her work, and
the Hill Country of Texas is a rich source of inspiration for her.
