A rich,
deep and varied wellspring of artistic expression” is how a long
time friend describes Debra Gunter. Her first calling was in opera
as a lyric soprano performing in Europe and the United States. Later
she followed a different calling as a stage director and conductor.
Her love for the synergy of theater: that is…”the transformation of
the actors and the physical space into an alternate reality that
deeply resonates with an audience”… is the same synergy that she
brings to her painting.
She is
currently exploring her passion for oil paint and has found that
contemporary still life has captured her fascination with the form,
color and beauty of everyday objects.
Her art
has taken her to study and paint in Taos and Italy and she enjoys
painting daily with her colleagues at Studio Trio in Fredericksburg.
She moved to
Fredericksburg seven years ago with her husband, Sloan, to raise
their children and enjoy the quality of life offered here.
