Barbie Holton is a native Texan using her extensive art background to create gourd art.  She majored in art education and received her degree from the University of Houston.  With her study in various fine arts and crafts since childhood, Barbie is constantly trying new directions. 

This award-winning artist has explored numerous techniques and media.  Her current focus is on gourd creations and woodturning.  Surface enhancements may include paints, dyes, pyrography,
inlay, gold-leaf, or carving.  Tactile and visual interest are very important to Barbie.


Business, sailboat racing, traveling, education, and children have all also found their place in Barbie’s life.  She enjoys membership in the American Association of Woodturners, Hill Country Turners, Texas Mesquite Association, Kerr Arts and Cultural Center, Texas Gourd Society, and American Gourd Society.
