Patti Schermerhorn believes that Life is an adventure in color and that color has no boundaries. “I want people to move beyond normal expectations of what color things “should” be in life & allow color to be a part of, not only the walls within their homes, but also used as a metaphor of splashing color into one’s life” Patti says. She believes color sets a tone, a movement, and stirs it around to create passion. Patti also loves to add texture to her art work & experiment with different mediums. The textures and colors really add to the sensations that are created and this is something Patti wants to bring to her art work.

Patti Schermerhorn’s art style is bright & full of texture. She paints in vibrant colors and uses her signature mosaic style, in which she outlines her work in oil pastels & oil pens because she feels it enhances the colors on the canvas.  Patti paints in a collection of series all of which have played a huge roll in her life.

Patti has always maintained an art studio in her home & in 2007 she began following her life long dream to be a full time artist , after retiring from a 25 year career in the restaurant industry. She grew up in Panama & moved to San Antonio to attend St. Mary’s University, where she graduated with a degree in Communication Arts.  Patti loved the culture & colors of both Panama & San Antonio & feels that it has truly played a part in not only her splashes of colorful artwork but her development as an artist.

Patti Schermerhorn has always believed that her purpose in life is to touch people’s lives.  Now she does this through her art work.  It is Patti’s hope that it touches your heart and brings color into your life.
