 Patrick
Childress was born and raised in the East Texas oil fields around
Henderson. Pat's a sixth generation Texan and a bit proud of
the fact that he's always called the state home. He received
his MBA from the University of Texas at Arlington and pursued a
career in manufacturing, retiring after selling his business in the
early 1990's, then
moving to the hill country from Houston with his wife Carol Anne.
The passion for art runs in the Childress family, as both Pat and
his twin brother Mike are artists. Pat studied art at various
extension classes at Rice University in Houston and continued
his artistic endeavors after moving to Boerne under
the tutelage of an array of renowned artists including Bill Scheidt,
Bill Zaner, Michael Albrechtsen, Jeff Legg and David Caton.
In
Pat's words, "There is no greater pleasure in life than bringing to
life a thought, a memory or a likeness of one's surroundings. I find
my inspiration by observing people, places and things. It's my hope
that any work of mine will inspire the viewer to look beyond the
canvas itself."
