Margaret
Fletcher has always had a love for the arts. She was
influenced by her mother’s desire to be an artist as she observed
her oil painting a landscape on a piece of cardboard, while sitting
at the kitchen table.
Margaret enjoyed drawing and won her first art award in the first
grade with a drawing of the war effort during WWII. Since then, she
was always interested in art, winning various awards in pen & ink,
but was unable to do her art full time due to her career in nursing
and caring for a family with 4 children.
Following
Margaret’s retirement, she embarked on a long desire to be an
artist. She was particularly attracted to pastels after attending a
workshop by Kathleen Cook in 2002. She has developed a passion for
painting with pastels and continued to study with Kathleen. In
2007, she won the Jim Kirkpatrick Memorial Award for excellence in
art at the Central Texas Pastel Society Annual Show.
Margaret resides in Fredericksburg with her husband, Gary.
