Jamie
Kimmel Shelton is a multi-media artist from the Central Texas Hill
Country. After completing her BFA and MFA in metal-smithing, she
returned to what she does best: draw animals. The “drawings in
metal” combined with colorful painted backgrounds satisfy the metal
artist in her and allow her to explore color and texture.
Many of
the artworks are of horses which are her favorite subject - not only
for their form, but for their historical significance. Mankind has
had a long association with the horse. From the cave paintings at
Lascaux to Picasso’s “Guernica” and beyond, the horse has been
featured in art and mythology all over the world. The titles of the
paintings reflect her research into the history and mythology of the
world’s cultures.
