The work of Geoffrey Koslow is greatly influenced by materials.
Glass is a traditionally utilitarian material originating for the
necessity of consumption. Whether making functional wares or
sculptural objects glass can be manipulated to take any shape or
form. Geoffrey is most drawn to this medium because of its eternal
nature allowing him to make an object, environment or feeling and
trap it forever lifelessly. Using heat, surface texture, volume and
color Geoffrey manipulates a clear cold material into intricately
detailed sculptures. The aim of his work is to make recognizable
glass objects that reference cultural phenomenon and scientific
beauty. Much of Geoffrey’s more recent work deals with refining the
craft of glassblowing. He tries to make his work playful by using
bright colors and contrast to highlight simple form and beauty.
