The artist inside was always there; striving to come out even while Kathy Perales taught fourth grade and especially
when teaching art to 750 elementary children. Now retired from public school teaching, she can devote more time to her love-painting.  She says, "At this time in my art journey there are no deep, dark, thought provoking inner meanings here. Nope, I want my work to bring a smile to the viewer. That warms my heart and keeps me painting."
K. Kenagy Perales

Kathy Kenagy Perales has been painting since she was a child. She studied education and art at Southwest Texas for a Bachelor of Science in Education degree and at UTSA for a Master of Arts in Education. She taught 3rd and 4th grade for 23 years and spent the last six years of her education career teaching art at Mountain Valley Schools, Canyon Lake, Texas; 29 years in all. Since her retirement she has worked on building a second career of being an artist. She paints in oil and watercolor, paints on glass and material, and teaches art and art appreciation classes. Kathy is a member and past President of the Canyon Lake Art Guild, a member of the New Braunfels Art League, San Antonio Art Education Association, Texas Art Education Association, and the Texas Retired Teachers Association. She has studied with Vie Dunn Harr, Kraig Kiedrowski, Tom Lynch, Terry Madden and Jeannette McDougall in Auvillar, France. She feels that she is blessed to be around such creative forces. Her work can be found in private collections from Washington to Florida and all over Texas.
